Anne E. Moncure

Anne E. Moncure was a well-respected and much loved educator who served as a superintendent of elementary education from 1934 until her retirement in 1960 and is remembered for her kindness. Anne E. Moncure gave the children of Stafford County a library when there was no other available to them. She loaded up her big station wagon with books to deliver to families' homes. She was born with a dislocated hip, but she never let her disability slow her down. Anne E. Moncure Elementary School is named for her.

As a child Anne E. loved flowers.

Her house sat on a hill where the Aquia Towne Center is today.

A family home, Grafton-North, sat on the site where Anne E. Moncure Elementary is located today.
