A Message from the Principal
Welcome to Anne E. Moncure Elementary School’s website. Since becoming Moncure’s Principal in 2007, I've maintained my commitment to help all children succeed and reach individual potentials. As a parent of three children (one in middle school, one in elementary school, and one in preschool) I understand the significance of a solid education foundation. After moving from Pennsylvania to Stafford County Public Schools with my wife in 1997, we quickly became part of the Stafford community, which we now call home. My wife is currently a Kindergarten teacher in Stafford County, and I spent the first 6 1/2 years of my career as a 5th grade teacher at Hartwood Elementary School before moving to Rocky Run Elementary School as an Assistant Principal in January of 2004. I am committed to Anne E. Moncure Elementary School and Stafford County Public Schools. I look forward to speaking with my Moncure "BEARS" each day, and likewise find my Principalship to be both exciting and rewarding.
Currently, Moncure Elementary School houses approximately 650 children from Kindergarten through Fifth grade. To meet the needs of our diverse children, various specialists provide essential assistance daily. Some of our talented specialists include an ESL teacher (English as a Second Language), Reading and Mathematics Specialists, a Technology Resource Teacher, Focus staff, and various other programs and professionals. Moncure’s staff and community are committed to educating well-rounded children.
Anne E. Moncure is comprised of a diverse group of professional educators. Daily, our approximate 80 teachers and Para educators strive to make each moment count. Our Motto, “Making A Difference Today for Tomorrow,” reinforces our commitment to help children maximize their potential. Moncure’s repeated success with Virginia’s SOLs speaks loudly about our staff’s commitment to maximizing every child’s education. Moncure's preliminary SOL data from our Spring 2009 testing has us projected as meeting both Virginia's Standards of Accreditation and No Child Left Behind's (AYP) Adequate Yearly Progress benchmarks.
Other programs offered through our school include: Tutoring, Chorus, World Percussion Group, Art Club, Math Club, Running Club, Chess Club, SCA, WMES (our daily broadcast studio), our annual Geography Bee, Spelling Bee, and many more. As Moncure Bears, we believe in the importance of keeping our school spirited and united. It is our goal to expand upon our spirit as “Buddy” Moncure's Bear comes out each spring and fall during our "Bear Seasons." We are very excited about our many possibilities.
Thanks again for taking the time to visit Anne. E. Moncure’s web page. Should you have any questions or comments, please feel free to email me at machigr@staffordschools.net.

Mr. Gregory R. Machi
